Hi, I’m Emily Carter.
Cozy Home Plate is a recipe website by Emily Carter, designed to give busy families easy, family-friendly recipes made with simple, everyday ingredients.

If you found your way here because a recipe popped up on Pinterest right around 5pm, while you were standing in front of an open fridge with absolutely no plan for dinner… I want you to know, I’ve been you.
More times than I can count, honestly. This whole blog exists because of nights exactly like that.
How Cozy Home Plate Came to Be
For years, my “recipe box” was really just a mess. Sticky notes. Half-torn magazine pages. Random screenshots buried somewhere in my phone.
Every family has that one dish. The one that shows up when someone’s sick. The one nobody’s allowed to skip at a birthday dinner. Mine were scattered everywhere, except somewhere I could actually find them again.
One winter, I made the same pot of soup for what felt like the hundredth time. So I finally sat down and wrote it out properly. Measurements. Timing. All the little tricks I’d figured out by trial and error.
I posted it, mostly as a favor to my future self. A few people tried it. A couple told me it reminded them of something their own mom used to make. That one stuck with me.
That’s really where Cozy Home Plate started. Not a business plan. Just a way to hold onto the meals that make a house feel like home, and share them with anyone who wants them too.
What Life Actually Looks Like Here
Our kitchen is the room where everything happens. It’s not the kind you’d find in a magazine.
There are always cutting boards drying by the sink. A candle burning, mostly to cover the smell of garlic. Someone leaning on the counter asking what’s for dinner before I’ve even decided.
Most nights, dinner doesn’t get plated until at least one taste tester has already hovered over the stove, reaching for a spoon before I’ve said it’s ready. Weekends are slower, and a little more fun. Saturday morning usually means pancakes, and a kitchen that smells like coffee before anyone’s technically awake. Sundays almost always end with something simmering for hours, because there’s finally time for it.
And somewhere in the middle of it all, there’s a cat curled up exactly where she shouldn’t be, convinced that whatever’s cooking is secretly for her.

I don’t develop these recipes alone in some quiet test kitchen.
They get made in a house with real noise, real opinions, and people who aren’t shy about telling me when something needs more garlic. That’s honestly the whole point.
Everything here has already survived a busy weeknight, and a pretty picky audience, before it ever makes it onto this site.

And yes, there is almost always a cat somewhere in the background of my photos, whether I plan for her to be there or not.

Why You Can Trust Me
- Every recipe on this site has been made in my own kitchen, more than once, before it’s ever published.
- I write down the mistakes too, like the version that came out too salty or the swap that didn’t work, so you don’t have to repeat them.
- No AI here. This site is run entirely by me, a real person. 😉 No AI-generated photos, no AI-written recipes, none of it.
- My family is my toughest test panel. If a dish gets ignored or left half eaten, it doesn’t make it onto the blog 😂.
- I keep instructions clear and realistic, based on the time and energy a normal weeknight actually gives you.
- I go back and update older recipes when I find a better way to make them, instead of leaving outdated versions up just because they’ve always been there.
Why I Keep Doing This
I’m not trying to reinvent dinner. I just want to make the everyday, ordinary kind of cooking feel a little easier, and maybe a little warmer, for someone else the way it does for us. If you’re looking for food that’s simple enough for a Tuesday and good enough for company, I think you’ll feel right at home here.
Pull up a chair. Dinner’s almost ready.
